Rock Toast or Rava Toast :-

Rava toast, sooji toast, semolina toast, or Rock toast is a very healthy breakfast and it is very delicious.

Sooji and bread are the main ingredients, along with onion, tomato, coriander leaves, and other spices.

Bread

Bread is very common in millions of house as a preferred breakfast alternative.

It is one of the oldest man-made foods, made up of flour dough and water along with some preservatives.

It is one of the oldest foods. The world’s oldest evidence of bread making is found 14,500 years back.

There are almost 140 types of breads available worldwide.

Some of the types are: Ciabatta, whole-wheat bread, sourdough, rye bread, pita bread, focaccia, multigrain, etc.

Semolina

Semolina is the coarse, purified wheat middlings of durum wheat mainly used in making upma, pasta, and couscous.

The Hindi name of Semolina is “Sooji” or “Rava”

Semolina is popular in all parts of India. It is the main ingredient of many breakfast menu and light meals.

Some of the dishes are: Sooji halwa (porridge), Upma, Uttappam, Rava dosa, Rava idli.

With semolina, today I am going to prepare rock toast.

Rock toast is a combination of slices of bread, semolina, onion, tomatoes, green chilies, capsicum, fresh green coriander leaves.

First, you have to roast semolina or sooji in a pan. You have to roast it for some time.

The color of the sooji should be whitish-brown that means roast it lightly.

Mix sooji with beaten curd and add onion, tomatoes, capsicum, chilli, coriander leaves and salt.

Mix all the ingredients properly and apply on one side of the bread, bread can be white, brown or whole wheat.

After applying the mixture on the bread place it on a greased hot girdle upside down.

Cook it till it has become light brown in color or it has become crisp.

Now serve these rock toasts with green chutney and tomato ketchup.

  • Roast sooji in a wok till it acquires whitish-brown color. Once it is roasted, Keep aside for cooling.
  • Chop onion, tomato, capsicum, green chilli and coriander leaves.
  • Take a bowl and add roasted sooji in the bowl. Prepare a semi-solid mixture by adding water slowly (if you want you can replace water with curd). The consistency should not be too watery nor it should be very tight.
  • Add all the chopped vegetables in the mixture, add salt, and mix all the ingredients properly.
  • Now apply this mixture on one side of all the slices of bread.
  • Heat a frying pan or tava, apply some oil so that it is greased properly.
  • Place the bread slices on the frying pan upside down. That means the side to which the mixture was applied should be facing down on the pan.
  • Toast the breads both the sides properly so that they have acquired a light brown color.
  • Cut the all the toasts diagonally in two halves.
  • Arrange the toasts on the serving plate and serve with green chutney and tomato ketchup. Enjoy your Rock Toast.
